Vanillacraft's Definition of "Vanilla"
Everything on Vanillacraft is mined, gathered, placed and built without gameplay changing modifications.
Server Type: Survival Multiplayer
Server Difficulty: Hard
PvP Setting: Designated PvP Areas Only
There is no starter kit, no creative mode and no item spawning on Vanillacraft.
It is literally impossible to use commands to spawn items, therefore making it futile to even try. Please don't waste your time, enjoy the game as it is meant to be played.
Using modifications to fly, increase speed or give any other unfair advantage is not allowed. We will know.
This is a very clear rule and thus has a system detached from the Moderators to catch rule breakers. Should you find yourself banned for blatantly ignoring this rule, the fault is your own.
Griefing is never tolerated and is punished by removal from the server.
Griefing: Actions of one player that are intended to upset (cause grief to) another player.
Do not impede public transportation.
Public Transportation:
~ Nether Portals (subject to a moderators opinion [aka non-funneling systems]).
~ Roads
~ End Portals (subject to a moderators opinion [aka non-funneling systems]).
Griefing does not only entail placing or removal of blocks.
Chat insults, "trolling" or various other forms of @$$-hattery is prohibited. Use common sense.
Moderators are not taxies. Do not ask to be teleported, you will only be disappointed.
Moderators do not have the desire to spend their time teleporting players around the map. This also is an effort to provide a lag-less environment of Multiplayer.
Starter Zone will regen on the 1st and 15th of each month
Any blocks placed or removed in the Starter Zone will be rolled back on the 1st and 15th of every month. This does not involve inventories, however any chests will be rolled back as well. Valuable ores will not be rolled back.
Do not ask for OP/Admin privileges, privately showing interest is Ok.
Do not ask to become a Moderator/OP/Admin of Vanillacraft. You are asked to become one, you do not ask. However, letting Admins/Moderators know in private that you are interested is not a bad thing.
Do not modify redstone contraptions
If you didn't make the redstone contraption don't mess with it unless you have permission from the owner.
Build Rules
Land is claimed by building something substantial.
A wall or sign border is not substantial. If you are unsure, ask a Staff member.
A small hut is not substantial to claim a 100x100 block area. A 1 block wide wall is not substantial to claim any land. You do not have to fill in all land to claim it, but it must be clear that you are using it.
Do not build within 50 blocks of another player unless you have permission to do so
Should be self explanatory, but do not build within 50 blocks of claimed land.
Respect boundaries, do not build too close to another players property without their consent.
Many players build with respect to the terrain around them. Do not ruin that by building too close. There is plenty of free and open land to choose from.
Do not build anything on, above or under any Public/Server roads, rails, Shrines or Gates.
Anything built in those areas will be removed without warning and if determined by the Staff member to be worthwhile, punishment given out.
Do not build and abandon single block towers made of any material.
These will always be met with a time away from Vanillacraft. It is best to dig down rather than build up to survive a night.
Do not build or gather resources (i.e. trees) on owned property!
If you do not have permission to remove resources or place block on owned property, do not do it. If you harvest a farm that is not yours, you must replant it! If it is a wheat farm and you turned soil into dirt, you must re-till it. This applies in the Nether as well.
Obey gravity! Do not build unsupported platforms floating in the air.
Large floating platforms are no longer allowed on Vanillacraft. They are ugly and take up a lot of good real estate. However, if there is a corresponding crater, structural support or "engine" to show why something is above ground, that is allowed. When unsure contact a moderator.
Do not build above others property or structures.
Even if your build is something mobile (i.e. plane, flying ship, etc.) do not build above another players property.
Encasing other players with your own buildings in order to prevent them from building is not allowed. There is plenty of space to build on the map. A moderator will determine what is and isn´t encasing and structures found breaking this rule will be asked to be removed in a timely manner. If the owner does not comply it will be removed for them and they will be banned.
Chop the whole tree!
This links into the obey gravity rule. Do not leave floating trees behind you, chop the entire thing down.
Nether Portals
You can no longer just block a nether portal with one block next to the portal block itself you need to make one side have a 2x2x1 (width hight depth) spot for players so they do not get trapped in your portals.
PvP Rules
Stealing is not allowed.
Stealing from another player through any means is not allowed. This includes scamming players our of their items in trades. Use common sense.
PvP is only allowed in the PvP Zones. Killing of a player in Non-PvP area through various means is not allowed at all. (This includes damaging people in non-pvp areas) Breaking this rule will result in an immediate ban.
PvP does not mean griefing is allowed.
Any effort to "deny the enemy" by means of griefing farms or other resources is not allowed. We did not enable PvP in order to ruin certain players game styles.
Animals cannot be owned & can be killed as part of PvP.
The only way to protect your animals fully is using a full enclosure (walls + roof) and a locking mechanism. Wooden doors, fence gates, etc. that can be activated by the opposing faction is not enough. A piston door, inverted iron door, redstone contraption, etc. is the only true way to protect animals. If an enemy manages to get in without griefing, your animals can be killed.
Traps of any kind may not be built inside the Starter Zone or any other Non-PvP Zone. Traps may only be built at a players build site inside PvP:On zones.
You may only build a trap at your own buildsite in a PvP Zone. Any traps found within the Starter Zone or other Non-PvP Zones will be met with punishment as they go against the spirit and intention of what Non-PvP Zones represents. A trap is defined as anything that: slows movement, kills, injures, maims or in any way hampers the gameplay of another player. These include but are not limited to: redstone machines, fall traps, piston traps or lava traps and various others. The determination of what is a "trap" will be made by the investigating Moderator.
Log-Out Traps are allowed if they are removed within a reasonable amount of time.
This means that you can build them where people log out as long as it is not within claimed land. They must not force people to /kill but must kill them as quickly as possible other wise its just a griefing tool. As for the amount of time its up to moderators about how long is reasonable but will not exceed 24 hours unless it is built on land that they own or have permission from the owner to leave the trap there.
Do not spawn kill a player.
Spawn Killing: Preventing a player from leaving their spawn location within a PvP-Zone by means of repeatedly killing them. However, if the player picks up a sword and attacks the aggressor, the aggressor is allowed to defend himself. Abuse of this self-defense clause by aggressors is grounds for a moderator to remove them from the server.
A group can only kill a player two times total if not you're spawn killing them.
Do not camp public portals in PvP Zones.
Any attempts at funneling players to their death directly outside of Public Portals (End/Nether) is not allowed. These portals are mainly utilized by new players or are the only ways in/out of these zones. As such we ask that you be respectful and pick your battles in open ground. What is and isn't camping of these entrances/exits will be determined by a moderator after investigating the matter.
When a fight is over, do the honorable thing and leave the area.
There is no point in sticking around a battlefield after the initial attack and possibly counter attack. After the bulk of fighting is over, leave the area.
Using another account to get around Server Rules is not allowed.
Players found using multiple accounts to evade bans will have these accounts banned and their ban on their original account extended.
Logging out multiple times during combat is exploiting the PvP system and is prohibited.
Logging out during PvP multiple times, blatantly to exploit the system, is not allowed. Using the temporary invincibility granted a player upon logging in for PvP actions is especially prohibited. There are plugins in place to prevent abuse however a moderator may determine that a ban is necessary to deter a player from continuous use of this exploit.
Excessive raiding is not allowed.
Raiding a group/player too many times in a short period of time is considered griefing. This is due to the fact that one could stop another player from being able to play the game by killing them repeatedly in set intervals. Due to the sensitive nature of situations surrounding this instance excessive can only be determined on a case by case basis by a moderator. If you witness or are victim of excessive raiding contact a moderator and let them deal with it.
Chat Rules
No excessive swearing, no spamming, no advertising
Swear or spam too much and you will be automatically removed from the server. Advertising other servers or server websites is not allowed.
Do not spam other players using the /msg command
While these messages are private this does not mean players are allowed to harass each other through these personal messages. If you find yourself being harrassed report it to a moderator or administrative moderator and they will determine the offenders punishment.
Please use English in Global chat.
Most of our players are from English speaking countries. If you do not speak English, please go to Regional or Local chat to speak with your friends.
Do not spam commands.
Spamming commands in chat causes server lag and will result in an automatic ban from the server. If you are experiencing lag when using a command wait a few moments before attempting to use the command again.
