Input is absolutely needed! This post is to keep players who aren't on Teamspeak in the loop as to what is being discussed. Everything on this page is in flux. Most of the the major planning is being done on Teamspeak, if anyone wants to contribute ideas there as well as the discussion thread.

Red/Blue: Suggestions to choose between.

Staff:
• Staff reshuffle—everyone needs to apply. New staff, new rules, new server.
• Evidence-based moderation, no evidence, no moderation.
• Ryan, as an administrator, must be more visible and helpful. As an alternative, appoint staff that can solve the same problems Ryan can.
• Several offers to moderate—gogyst, Mr_Palmer, Vacarn, Maddog, V2Discount, Deathpebbles1
• Staff should try to be from both US and EU timezones for maximum online coverage.
• ./report [player] [comment] command for reporting players to staff
• INTERACTION BEFORE AND AFTER SERVER LAUNCH

Plugins
• A command to declare a chest or a block public in order to facilitate community builds; player-built food farms, public PvP arenas, etc.
• A PvP tagging system, so players can't escape from pvp by teleporting, logging off, or entering a safe zone.
• Sign shops like Bukkit Essentials; suggested by multiple people as an alternative for building the redstone shops.
• GriefProtect needs to protect completely; a sealed house should be completely safe. (May not be feasible)
• Zones need to be editable ingame without a server restart.
• A spawn PvP arena is present. Players can duel each other with ./duel [player] [matchtype]. Matches can be set so that players lose their items when they die or retain them. Players can organize fight clubs like V6.
• TNT will no longer break itself after five minutes of being placed.
• TimeKeeper will now announce the players that have voted to sleep by using a bed in global chat.
• /home is set by sleeping in a bed. Players without a bedspawn do not have a /home, and will spawn at worldspawn.

Ruleset
•The word of the day is automation. The ideal goal is that people will be prevented from breaking any rule by the plugins.
• Ban the following items and enchantments: Notch Apple
• Strengthen land claiming rules to avoid land conflicts. Specifics TBD
• Spawn area refreshes every 30 days, v4 style. Players belonging to non-starter zone areas are prohibited from strip mining the spawn zone for materials.
• Blocks placed by players are protected from other players, as always.
• The location of your ./home location (see below) determines your zone membership. Homes take 24 hours to reset and your zone membership is preserved for 24 hours after leaving it (to prevent "Beatman"ing and murdering zone members).
• Chests are protected from stealing in all areas.
• Logout traps completely illegal.

PvP
•The old V4 system is very popular, but frontlines and stealing are not. Red vs. Blue, two sides of the map.
• Open PvP is decried by some people as divisive and conflict-filled—including Viking.
• Global PvP.
• Spawn area (size of v4 spawn) is PvP protected, in addition to a v4 style spawn zone with PvP disabled.
• All new players to the servers are given six realtime hours, or 2 ingame hours, of PvP protection that carries over the entire world. This enables new players to build in areas outside spawn zone without being killed by raiders. The protection can be turned off voluntarily using ./pvp enable.
• Two zones with colored nametags. Membership to these zones is determined by the player's ./home location (see below). Players that are members of the same zone cannot directly damage each other (but traps are still possible and legal). Players without a ./home location may PvP anyone in either zone. (barbarians)
• A spawn PvP arena is present. Players can duel each other with ./duel [player] [matchtype]. Matches can be set so that players lose their items when they die or retain them. Players can organize fight clubs like V6.

Map Design
• Spawn should be built as soon as possible
• Simple and functional a la V4 or V6....open in all directions
Facilities:
•Trading
•Rules
•Nether Portal
•Food farm
•PvP Arena
• Possible shrines need to be built.
• No more giant savannahs.
• Start the map fairly small, and then use regularly-scheduled map expansion to account for new builds and players, V3 style.

Teleports
• Clan teleports are a popular idea, could replace shrines.
Shrines may be a necessary evil but I suggest we think about a better system before implementing them.
• All teleports on the same timer to limit players to one teleport per XX minutes.

New Mechanics
• Expanding the V5 arena system, make it easier to create an arena.
• ....To be imagined

Clans
• Clans are an integral part of Vanillacraft and should be treated as such.
• Clantags available to more established clans
• An ingame way to apply for clans, a la applying for corp in EvE; clans needn't be on online to add members but instead the player applies and a clan member can accept the application at any time. Conversely, clans can invite people.
• Minumum number of players to form clan should be 5.
• Option to initiate a vote to choose a new clan leader.
• The voting mechanic, if implemented, will have a restriction on it to prevent daily overthrows, but an afk timer is not planned. This means players will be able to vote the leader out at any time, with a cooldown between votes. A vote requires a 2/3rds majority. The leader will not be able to kick players if a vote is initiated until after the vote is completed, or times out.
• Clans should decrease the difficultly of shared building by giving access to all blocks owned by its players to the rest of the clanmembers, with some restrictions.
• Blocks placed before you join a clan are inaccessible to the clan.
Option: We should not alienate players that want to play alone, all features available to lone players. -Palmer
Option: Push players into clans by decreasing the commands available to non-clanmembers to make sure players aren’t isolated and to promote emergent group gameplay –Viking
• Clan teleports as an alternative to shrines (maybe)
• Intraclan conflicts not moderated by server staff—stealing, etc
• Clantags extending to Teamspeak and the forums for group visibility and stability.

Official Events
• Monthly PvP tournaments in the spawn arena with prizes/spectators.
• Monthly build contests.
• Zone-Zone wars where member of both zones gather at a community determined location to fight.
• Days of Night using custom maps (no extra work for Ryan and MLK)
