Server Migration

Server Migration

Postby Ryan00793 » Thu Oct 02, 2014 10:24 am

We are currently in the process of migrating to a new server that is a bit cheaper and has much more hdd space. This will make it easier to justify the expense of the server to my self as I will be able to use it to do a lot more. Including taking real back ups of the server on box (meaning a whole lot faster to recover if disaster struck).

The server may or may not be available when you read this.

I will post updates via a response to this to keep you guys updated.

I may or may not have forgotten to turn off server monitoring and the hosting company has interveened to save me from not being able to connect to the server (i was currently connected to the server via ipv6 and disabled ipv4 access). Long story short some person at OVH's datacenter just put the server into rescue mode and now I'm waiting for it to reboot to the regular hdd. They do have good response time to the server going down though.

So while I took a 3 hour nap since I couldn't really think right, I had the two largest files being transferred and it seems sometime while I napped the upload got canceled. Now I'm using a different method to transfer the files which seems to be working well. Anyway currently it looks like it I will have everything set up and running by 4:30 pm pst but if you can't connect please look here first. If there is a post you may have to clear your dns cache by going into your windows console and typing ipconfig /flushdns, and if that doesn't work reboot router, and then it should work. If it still doesn't please contact me via support ticket under stuck.

File transfer still says 26 minutes so I would guess 45 minutes till its up (if everything works perfectly).
